Blinded Lights

Amazed by the light,
Blind by the sun,
Light burning my eyes,
Then the door closes,
And the darkness consumes,
Only to be blinded again

Bittersweet

Memories taste like lemons at times,
Bitter but sweet,
Sour to the taste,
Yet it brings out the flavor or sweet moments,
Smiles can bring miles of warmth,
And those corny moments that rhyme,
Just a bittersweet taste left over

Something Out of Nothing

Following the hand prints that marked up the walls,
The blood no longer looked as it should,
But much like paint that had splattered over the fence,
The day the it all happened,
Felt like a flash before everything was over,
And still the days flow by as if nothing happened,
And the hand prints still dripped of red paint,
As if something had been done

Ponderous Occasion

Sitting on the rock which made me ponder,
To swell up with thoughts so bold and delicate,
Just to think of a momentous moment,
A ponderous occasion,
Just to snap backward and rewind time,
See your steps roll back and your actions undone,
To know what you want and not be able to have it,
Turns your stomach and it does mine,
If everything came easy,
Would there ever be a challenge

Footsteps in the Sand

Following the footsteps in the sand,
Seeing them lead to the ocean where the tide is beginning to rise,
Just to hear the seagulls caw die short,
Your eyes fixate on what this all may be,
But come to find that there is nothing but nothing,
No birds about,
No people,
Just the footsteps that lead to the shoreline

Stunned

Seeking the knowledge brewed,
Within the mind of a child,
The thought sputter about,
In rapid movements that only catch the birds eye,
Only to distract long enough for the mouse to flee,
In the cactus it hopped,
And the rapid movement ceased when the child,
Locked eyes with someone so elegant,
Beautiful and surreal,
His jaw could no longer stay open

Lorraine

In worried eyes,
The world seems to quake and shake,
To what may behold the one so bold,
As to ask a question or to say a word,
To quiver in your chair or feel your stomach turn,
To hear your own heart pound,
Your lips quiver,
And your body trembles,
And before you,
Is a man,
He proposal presented and his heart commended,
In a loving vow he pledged,
And eternal love shall be set,
Upon this perch it sat,
The world would only grow silent if not for a moment,
When your breath left your chest and your mind moving faster then ever,
A warm sensation drifts in your chest,
Your skin trembles,
And your eyes are no longer worried,
But full of life and glitter,
If words could speak to the emotion in this moment,
When one man made the world hush,
Then I do suppose that moment would live in verbal infamy
